Since mid 1990's, Melissa B. Souter-Michel has assisted small-to-medium sized corporations with business consulting, accounting, taxation, human resources, grant writing, and contract processing. As a grant writer, she represented many companies that were awarded monetary approvals and in-kind donations from various sponsors. During this timeframe, Melissa earned dual undergraduate degrees from Itawamba Community College (Accounting and Taxation) and Miami University of Ohio (Business Administration and Management).
In 2002, while obtaining studies to recieve a Bachelor Degree from Texas Wesleyan University and completing an internship at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Melissa decided to enter corporate America and gained a position as Senior Human Resource Manager, where she served until 2005.
In 2003, Melissa opened an Income Tax Preparation Agency, called Office, Tax, & Business Consulting Services, LLC. (OTBC Services). She has established a sound client base throughout several states. As it remains until this very day, she assists individuals and business owners with income tax preparation, amendments, situational returns, and year-end processing. --For your income tax needs, contact Melissa.
In 2005, Melissa became employed as a Senior Regional Human Resource Director and Business Partner for Strategic Change, Inc. She remained employed and served as an Executive Board member until business closure, due to Covid, 2021.
In December 2012, Melissa graduated from Texas Christian University with a Master Degree, -- concentrations in Business Administration and Management, minor in Human Resource Management.
From 2015-2021, she helped to organize and spearhead transitional, scholarship, and employment training programs with Tarrant and Dallas ISDs. The programs responded to the increased number of academic failure rates and lack of post-secondary assistance among High School students and adolescent youths.
She has established long-term relationships with multiple Section 8, HUD, and underserved communities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan areas. In addition, she hosted regular meetings at probation and parole centers to mentor and prepare reacclimated populations for the workforce and civilian living.
In June 2021 Melissa became inspired to establish a new nonprofit purposed to educate people of diverse backgrounds in various areas of Advanced Education. She believes many talented people are underserved and lack necessary knowledge because support services are out of reach and are not affordable.
She incorporated her consulting agency, Consulting You, LLC., as an umbrella to spearhead the career development programs and professional support services under a private, non-profit, called Consulting You -Solutions for Nonprofit & Small Business Initiatives. In extending further assistance, the consulting agency will offer a monetary funding component in awarding other small nonprofits who have accepted a call to communal and social change and who has demonstrated great efforts toward helping their local community. The Career Development Programs will provide guidance to youths, ages 16-19, and adults, ages 18 and older from diverse backgrounds.
Consulting You, LLC -Solutions for Nonprofit & Small Business Initiatives is not just a program for inspired business owners and professional leaders. We also have incorporated an employment and workforce module to support those who desire to prosper in the workplace.
After two years of preparation, The Career Development Programs are set to begin in September 2023.
